Reiki is one of the nicest ways to balance your chakra energy. It can be helpful in many instances and on many levels. I was interested to read this article today, written by a soldier who regularly uses Reiki. It has helped him and continues to help him deal with the emotional traumas he felt and witnessed.
Many people dismiss Reiki, expecting it to be a once only cure. This is an exaggerated expectation of it. I think it is much better viewed as an ongoing process, something we should try to incorporate into our daily lives. Working with energy cannot fix all wrongs in an instance and create a perfect world but it is an important part of our psyche and human spirit.
Bringing balance to the chakras is just one way of trying to work with our energy, using language we can easily understand. But just as we need daily food, water and exercise, we need to view energy work in the same way.
