Fibromyalgia and the Benefits of Tai Chi

Tai chi is a wonderful way to bring balance and peace to your body, mind and spirit. If you haven’t already tried it, I would give it a go.

I read this article with interest today, about a study that was conducted to see if  Tai Chi could be found to have positive effects on sufferers of Fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is described as” a common and poorly understood pain disorder that afflicts an estimated 200 million or more people worldwide”.

The article goes into much more detail of the disorder, the test conditions and the manner the trials were conducted.

Although it is more asking why should such a thing as exercise be deemed as “alternative” – it makes interesting reading about the true benefits of exercise – in the form of Tai Chi and the stretches etc that were involved.

It is just another study that proves there are benefits to our physical health, even if they are hard to scientifically measure – of some common sense practices that we can all incorporate into our daily or weekly schedules. Naturally you don’t have to have fibromyagia to benefit from Tai Chi or such similar exercise regimes as yoga or even pilates. We don’t need to wait to be unwell to start some healthy habits.
